Network Marketing Success: Avoiding Information Overload

No doubt you’ve seen plenty of offers from people who claim they have the key to network marketing success.  They may claim they have “the best way to generate prospects” or “secrets to growing a massive downline in no time at all” and many, many others.  There is a wealth of information online–some free and some not–on how to build a successful network marketing business.  The problem with so much information is that it is easy to get bogged down with “information overload” and feel so overwhelmed by everything that has to be done that you do nothing at all!  Follow these tips to help you focus your attention and avoid having information overload keep you from network marketing success.

Evaluate the Quality of the “Lists” You are On.  Every time you opt-in to receive some free information, you automatically enroll on a “list.”  You are giving permission for the author to contact you with other offers and information.  There is nothing wrong with being on somebody’s list–in fact, you can learn a lot from it–but it is important to evaluate the value you receive from the e-mails they send you.

When you have 105 new e-mails from lists you have subscirbed to, it is easy to feel overwhelmed.  Chances are, there are some lists you could opt-out of, and you wouldn’t be missing out on anything.  If the person sending you the e-mails is constantly trying to get you to buy something without providing information that has value to you, simply unsubscribe.  By choosing wisely which e-mails you receive, you save yourself not only the time you would waste reading lousy e-mails that constantly pitch a product or opportunity, you put yourself in control of the information you receive.  And that means less “information overload!”

Choose to Focus on One Thing at a Time.  There are so many different ways you can choose to focus on to grow your network marketing business, especially if you are marketing online.  But it is important to choose one area to focus on and master that before moving on to the next.  If you are trying to learn blogging strategies, PPC advertising, article marketing, and everything else out there all at the same time, you are setting yourself up for information overload and not setting yourself up for network marketing success.

Instead, choose one focus and stick with it until you have it mastered.  Then you can move on to the next step and incorporate another marketing strategy into your business.  For instance, if you want to market through blogging, learn all you can about blogging.  Seek out the best information available on blogging (both from other network marketers and people outside the industry), and learn how to implement it in your business.  When you’ve got that down, you can move on to the next strategy and do the same thing.  You will find that you will do much better if you learn to do one thing really well rather than being mediocre at several things.

Be Willing to Pay for Good Information.  I’m sure you receive offers for information all the time–I know I do.  So how do you know what’s worth paying for and what’s not?  By the value offered in the free information the author offers.  Before you get sucked in by good copyrighting and pay ,000 for a course, check out the free information that the author promotes.  If it has valuable information, chances are the information they sell is worth buying.

But why pay for information when there is so much available for free?  I think the biggest reason is that it will save you the time of sorting out the good from the bad, and the mistakes you will surely make using your own trial-and-error methods.  Instead of wasting time finding out what works using free information, find several people that you can trust to consistently deliver good, solid, valuable information, and pay them for their expertise.  You’ll avoid information overload and be much more likely to achieve success in your network marketing business.

Network Marketing Success All Starts With A Plan. Got One?

What’s in YOUR written game plan for implementing MLM success? How are the activities broken down? Are they monthly, weekly and/or daily? What? I didn’t catch what you said. Did you just reply that you don’t HAVE a drafted business plan? Sigh.

Putting your objectives on paper is similar to initiating a contract with yourself. Each year, thousands of people put together what is recognized as ‘New Year’s Resolutions’. These goals frequently consist of well-being (I’m going to drop that leftover 7 pounds this time), finances (I plan to beyond any doubt ask for that pay increase at my job) or family (I plan to devote more time with my wife and family). The unfortunate statistic is that 95% of human beings don’t state those resolutions in writing and take a shot at what typically occurs? By February, it was all in vain. The very thing can be said for your network marketing success. It all starts with putting together your goals- written goals. If you’re ‘resolved’ to make a fortune with your network marketing business, you have no choice but to put together a plan that works. And then, you’ve got to work the plan. Putting your goals in writing will be THE most significant exercise you can do for yourself! It’s that powerful. But how do you begin?

Writing an outstanding goal plan that will assist you in cranking up your MLM business should always allow for 2 important elements:
1) Goals that can be measured (ex. I will enroll 13 new downline by August 30, 2011)
2) Concrete actions you should do to attain those measurable goals (ex. I will phone my top 30 in my warm market and attract them to a business presentation by Sunday)

Network marketing success tip #1 -How to create measurable goals

Just like any highly regarded author, you have to start with the outcome in mind. An exceptional author always knows the ending to her tale first. Once she has that, she merely writes the story backwards. Same thing applies to your network marketing success. You must ask yourself, “How many new personal recruits do I want this year?” Is it 10, 25, 100, 500? All are achievable if you have the appropriate plan to reach your goals. Once you latch on to that specific number, you simply work backwards to find the actions you need to meet those goals.

Case in point, let’s put forth that you want to enroll 30 new members by the completion of 3 months. You also understand that you typically convert about 10% of those people you talk with. Do the math and you’ll observe you’re going to have to join in conversation with about 300 prospects. If you know you must talk with 300 prospects then how many people must you engage to be able to bring to light that many prospects? Again, if your hit rate is 10% then you’ve got to ,in one way or another, calculate a way to network with 3000 people. This number will now help you determine the actions you must take to develop your MLM lead generation and bring about the number of exposures necessary to get to those 3000 people.

The other element to creating the ‘measurable’ portion of your goal plan is the need to be flat out detailed. The most powerful 2 words in the English language when it comes to goal planning are ‘by when’. ‘By when’ do you desire having those 30 personal recruits? ‘By when’ do you aspire to have that shiny new Mercedes? ‘By when’ do you want to fire your boss? ‘By when’ do you want to buy that dream home you keep talking about? Always be very particular with the date by which you want to fulfill your task. It’s perfectly acceptable to shoot for the moon here. You’re going to ,unquestionably, bump into some stars along the way, right?

Network Marketing success tip #2- How to establish the actions that will help you complete those measurable goals

So let’s go more down the rabbit hole. Let’s say that your sponsor has told you that in order to connect with those 3000 people above, it will take 10 times as many exposures. That means you’re going to either have to make 30,000 calls or construct 60 pieces of content and put on the internet or create 100 videos. Whatever it takes to get there. Get it? Immediately, you’ve got not only your measurable goals in place, but you’ve established the actions you have to take to hit your numbers. Finally, now it’s time to go to work.

Network Marketing success tip #3- Keep your goals top of mind.

Now that you have a plan and will take daily action, your network marketing success can’t help but come to be. So what’s your method to keep it at the top of your mind, all day, every day, from morning till evening. As you go through your goals from your vision board or vision frame, picture them as already being in your life. See yourself enrolling that 30th teammate. Feel them shaking your hand passionate to start their new venture. And recognize that you’ve just transformed another life. Break down your long term goals into baby steps that can be transposed into activities monthly, weekly, daily and even hourly.

Now it’s time to make it all happen. Segment your calendar to do only the most time efficient, income producing tasks first. Shut down the email. Do NOT open another one of those ‘best comp plan ever’ videos. Don’t even pick up the phone until you succeed in doing your 3 top items of the day. Then the balance of your day will be a piece of cake. In fact, keep following the plan and the rest of your life could be a piece of cake. When you’re consistent and persistent, you can’t help but have the network marketing success you’ve always dreamed of.
